Case Study: Rivalfox marketing tracking tool
Rivalfox – competitive intelligence tool for digital marketers. Tracking and analysis of competitors online.

Business challenge
The initial product’s development was done by the Client’s in-house engineers. However, the project was highly complex and required a larger experienced team. The Client felt the need for the additional technological expertise from SumatoSoft to master their product in full measure.
Our solution
Following the Scrum methodology, we upgraded the application making the solution easily scalable. To improve the quality of reports, SumatoSoft team developed the analytics system which monitors the effectiveness of customers’ marketing strategy. Finally, the system performance was optimized to increase the application’s responsiveness, reduce the server load, and decrease server costs.

Technological changes introduced:
- highly customizable web, csv, pptx reports;
- online feed tracking the latest social networks’ activity of customers’ competitors;
- dynamic charts for rendering analytics data;
- optimized database structure.

Before:
- Poor application performance and a large server footprint drove up infrastructure costs, degrading user experience and straining the Client’s operating budget.
- The product had no analytics section; customers had no way to measure or compare the effectiveness of competitors’ marketing campaigns.
- Reports could not be exported in the formats customers needed, limiting how teams shared and acted on competitive data.
- Flawed database architecture blocked the product from scaling as the customer base grew.
After:
- Server consolidation and feed search optimization reduced infrastructure costs by ~35% and improved application response time by ~40%.
- A DSL-based analytics engine gives customers real-time visibility into competitor campaign activity across Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and blogs.
- Customizable exports in web, CSV, and PPTX formats let teams distribute competitive intelligence in the format that fits their workflow.
- Rebuilt database structure supports scalable growth, removing the architectural constraint on the product’s expansion.
