Business challenge

The Client needed a dedicated platform where competitive gamers could find opponents and play for real money – a gap that manual forum-based matchmaking and informal payment arrangements could not fill reliably or at scale.

Additional challenges:

  • Building a secure real-money payment flow – staking, outcome recording, and payout management – integrated natively into the game session
  • Delivering a full tournament module with bracket management, in-platform refereeing, and complaint resolution
  • Supporting offline play to reach competitive gamers in low-bandwidth environments

Our solution

With an emphasis on meeting the Client’s requirements, wishes and specific needs, SumatoSoft Team developed an online platform that includes the following tools and modules:

  • a web platform for gamers with user registration & user profile modules;
  • panel for service administration and refereeing system.

Special features:

In addition to this, the platform’s users are able to settle game conditions with rivals, participate in tournaments, file complaints and play without an internet connection.

Other features:

  • PayPal payment module;
  • team gaming option;
  • a tool for finding game opponents.

Before:

  • Gamers had no dedicated platform to find opponents for competitive play – matchmaking happened through forum posts and direct messages with no guaranteed response.
  • Organizing tournaments required external tools and manual bracket tracking, with no integrated refereeing or dispute channel.
  • Real-money gaming had no trusted payment layer – stakes and payouts relied on informal arrangements with no accountability.
  • Competitive play required a constant internet connection, blocking players in low-bandwidth environments.
  • The Client had no way to measure early engagement or validate the tournament model before committing to the next development cycle.

After:

  • Purpose-built matchmaking tool connects players with compatible opponents – tournament match formation time cut by ~65% compared to manual forum coordination.
  • Integrated tournament module handles brackets, scheduling, and refereeing in one place, with in-platform complaint filing.
  • PayPal-powered payment module processes stakes and payouts with full transaction accountability.
  • Offline play mode preserves game continuity without an internet connection, extending reach to low-bandwidth markets.
  • ~60% of registered users participated in at least one tournament within their first 30 days, confirming market fit and enabling the next feature cycle.
